Municipalities can have a virtual stand in Sweden’s largest public careers event

Future Fair will take place virtually but closely imitating real life

Tomorrow, 25 March, Sweden will organize for the 8^th consecutive time its largest dual event dedicated to careers in the public sector – Framtidsmässan (or Future Fair), accompanied with a Recruitment Fair on the same day. These will take place between 9 am and 4 pm (Future Fair) and 9 am and 6 pm (Recruitment Fair) online and are freely accessible to anyone with an internet connection, though of course they will be conducted in Swedish.

The first time this was tried out digitally was in October 2020 and it was considered a success

It was reported that this is the second time around that the event will take place online after the first virtual edition was attended by some 4000 students. The organizers assure that public employers will get great benefits out of presenting in that way and the format reminds something of a video game and it closely resembles real life.

That means that each participating employer will get a virtual stand displaying their logo, much the same way they would if this was happening in a real context. Likewise, staff from the institution or municipality will be present at each stand to talk to students, answer questions and present information. Students will also be able to watch lectures, presentations, submit their CVs and book study visits.

The employers will get the chance to collect information on how many people have visited their stand and to connect with them for further questions and clarifications. The idea is to best present to youngsters what working in the public sector is like. After all, this sector is expected to recruit half a million people by 2026.
