Municipalities in Alentejo reduce price of travel pass

The public transport of Alentejo is getting cheaper come August

Starting on the first of August, citizens of the Portuguese region of Alentejo will be saving quite a hefty sum of money when it comes to public transportation. The region’s five coastal municipalities have come to an agreement to reduce the price of the monthly public transport passes from 81.95 euros per pass to 40 euros. The municipalities include Odemira, Sines, Santiago do Cacem, Grandola and Alcacer do Sal.

In the words of the head of the Community of Alentejo Litoral, Vítor Proença, “We intend to provide people with the possibility of purchasing passes for lower prices, at the same time, improving mobility in the five counties of the Alentejo coast.”

Local authorities are certain that this change will be a great boon for locals living the coastal municipalities. By introducing the lower price tags, families will be saving more than 500 euros per year. In order to benefit from the new tariffs, users of the public transport system in Alentejo Litoral need to register at the portal of the region’s intermunicipal community. You can find the application form over at this link.
