Amazon Prime Video, the City of Nice and the École Nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière have just announced the launch of a new mentoring program aimed to foster the screenwriters of tomorrow. Said programme offers a five-month training course where authors will receive artistic and professional support along the way.
The course will take place both at the Studios de la Victorine in Nice and online from January to May 2022 and will soon open for applications.
The City of Nice announced the forthcoming launch of the "Victorine Narrative Lab", together with Prime Video, Amazon’s video-on-demand platform and local partners. The scriptwriting program will allow aspiring authors to imagine, develop and perfect their first feature film.
The call for applications will be open to talents from metropolitan France or its overseas regions, who will be trained by professionals. Moreover, they will be able to attend exceptional conferences with great French authors and screenwriters, as well as with professors from ENS Louis-Lumière.
At the end of the "Victorine Narrative Lab" program, Amazon Prime Video will have the possibility of acquiring the rights to these scripts with priority and developing them in collaboration with the author. This way, participants in the Lab could eventually become the authors of the next Amazon Original hit.
Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, quoted on the city website, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership as it "responds to the ambition of the City of Nice to consolidate the audio-visual sector in its territory and to boost the Studios de la Victorine.”
He went on to say that “Specifically, the choice of Nice and la Victorine to host this writing program entitled "Victorine Narrative Lab" testifies to the renewed attractiveness of our studios and the interest they arouse among producers.
This program offers a great opportunity to emerging screenwriters who will be able to imagine, at home, in Nice, the stories that will make the cinema of tomorrow. We also hope that this program will benefit the writers of our territory."
