¿Sabías que la mayor parte del corcho que se utiliza en los tapones de las botellas de vino procede de un árbol que solo crece en el Mediterráneo occidental? La mayoría de los alcornocales se concentran en la Península Ibérica, y más concretamente en Portugal y la región de Extremadura, en el suroeste de España.
Se trata de un nicho económico importante para la población rural de estas zonas, por lo que la Consejería de Economía extremeña organiza una jornada virtual el 15 de diciembre (10:00) con el objetivo de dar a conocer a los corcheros un nuevo manual sobre silvicultura adaptativa. Ha sido elaborado como parte de un proyecto financiado por la Junta de Extremadura y el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER).
La jornada virtual está organizada por ingenieros forestales y agrónomos de CICYTEX, el centro regional de investigación científica, quienes también fueron fundamentales en la elaboración del manual en cuestión.
El encuentro comenzará con una presentación general del nuevo manual y una explicación de su uso práctico. El documento contiene los conocimientos reunidos por expertos en la materia durante los últimos años.
Posteriormente, se publicará un informe sobre la clasificación de los alcornocales, con la constatación de que en Extremadura se han identificado siete tipos diferentes. La importancia de esta categorización es que facilitará a los administradores el uso de los modelos y metodologías correctos según el tipo de bosque que estén tratando.
El encuentro online concluirá con la proyección de distintos vídeos educativos que mostrarán ejemplos prácticos en la gestión de diferentes tipos de alcornocales. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de tener una mirada informada y capacitación con la ayuda de una visita virtual a una granja real.
