This will be the first time that the Race for the Cure event is being held in Cyprus
This year, the Breast Cancer Centre of Cyprus will be organising the country’s first Race for the Cure event meant to raise awareness for the disease. The city of Paphos will be joining 22 other countries as they jointly take part in the world’s largest event against breast cancer.
This year, however, the race in Paphos will be different to what one might normally expect. As it is with all mass events over the last few months, the Race for the Cure will also be subjected to strict epidemiological measures. The government’s rules and guidelines prohibit mass gatherings of this kind which has prompted organisers to figure out different ways for citizens to participate in the event.
The Paphos Race for the Cure will be held between 25 and 27 September and will feature a 3km long walk and a 5 km road race. What makes it special, however, is the fact that everyone can take part no matter where they are located.
According to the organisers of the event, all you need to do if you’ve decided to join in on the awareness-raising campaign is to post the route you’ll take, along with the hashtags #RFTC2020 and #PaphosRaceForTheCure. With the race going digital and social distancing-friendly, nothing can prevent citizens from taking part in an important event that plays a key role in raising awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
All the funding that will be raised throughout the event between 25 and 27 September will be donated to Europa Donna Κύπρου. If you’re interested in registering and finding out more about the Race for the Cure initiative, don’t forget to check out their dedicated webpage - www.raceforthecure.eu.
