Enabling households to recycle green waste is another step towards making the city more sustainable
Home composters will be given to those who need them, announce from the City of Debrecen. The launch of the new measure was given by Ákos Balázs, Viktor Papp and László Türk in a briefing on September 4, 2019. In the spring of 2019, László Papp, the Mayor of Debrecen announced the campaign against the generation of additional green waste in the Hungarian city. The new garden program wants to make Debrecen both more beautiful and greener and comes together with efforts in the field of tree planting, flowering, landscaping and keeping the public spaces clean.
Composting is an environmentally friendly way of recycling green waste from the garden. By recycling the resulting green waste, we help the environment and we also provide our garden with a natural source of nutrients. The goal is to burn as little green waste from the gardens as possible in the autumn, which will lead to less pollution of the city air.
Composters can be claimed online or on paper. Online registration is accepted between September 04-15 on www.debrecenamikertunk.hu. Individuals who do not have the opportunity to register online can also fill out the application form during their opening hours of the City Hall. One property per household is available for registration and they will be distributed between September 18-26. The 300 litre containers will be accepted at a pre-determined time and place.
