After a 2-year-long "transition period" are you ready for compliance?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a set of rules designed to protect the privacy of citizens of the European Union. Data affected by GDPR is pretty broad, and can include information "such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or other factors specific to physical, physiological, mental, economic, cultural or social identity." There's also an additional class of information that's subject to different rules, including sensitive personal data that relates to race or ethnicity, religion, political opinions, personal health, sex life, or union membership. In practice, the new regulations mean that even if a company tracks the IP address of users in the EU, they must comply.
While the GDPR was adopted in 2016, it goes into effect today on May 25, 2018 after a 2-year-long "transition period." And If companies do not comply with the GDPR, there are serious consequences. How you or your organization affected by GDPR, and are you ready for compliance? Vote in our new poll, and share your opinion on how GDPR will affect your daily life.
