Rincón de la Victoria es uno de los 13 municipios de la provincia de Málaga que participan en la iniciativa Smart Costa del Sol, que a su vez se lleva a cabo en el contexto de la Agenda Digital para España y es un instrumento para ofrecer mejores condiciones sociales y económicas a los habitantes de estos lugares.
La medición del sensor de las condiciones ambientales locales es solo la última acción de esta iniciativa, que incluye otras 14 actividades similares destinadas a una revisión integral de la experiencia urbana y la calidad de vida de visitantes y lugareños.
