La città di Roma partecipa al progetto europeo Elviten (Electrified L-Category Vehicles Integrated into Transport and Electricity Networks), finanziato per 36 mesi dalla Commissione Europea (INEA) nell’ambito del programma di ricerca e sviluppo Horizon 2020. A Roma il partner europeo è il Municipio IX Eur.
Argomento centrale, il long-term sharing delle bici elettriche. In luglio è stata avviata la sperimentazione pilota su Roma, con il comodato d'uso "lungo” e gratuito, a enti pubblici e aziende private, di 60 biciclette elettriche, a pedalata assistita, hanno anche l’opzione della marcia con motore (senza dunque bisogno di pedalare) e toccano i 25 km/h. Proprio perché possono andare completamente a motore sono omologate e immatricolate come ciclomotori a due ruote e richiedono uso del casco, targa e patente.
Il Municipio IX ha messo in circolazione per ora 60 super-bike che ruotano tra 95 lavoratori per gli spostamenti casa-lavoro: 49 di Roma Capitale, 46 di altri enti e aziende. Ma sono numeri destinati ad aumentare entro qualche mese.
Le bici possono essere impiegate su tutto il territorio comunale, il servizio è gratuito e per andare sui nuovi mezzi occorre registrarsi su piattaforme che consentono l’uso di app specifiche sul proprio smartphone e la geolocalizzazione delle bici stesse. Si pensa di realizzare a Roma “corridoi di mobilità dolce” (max 30 km/h su strada) o percorsi dedicati ai veicoli elettrici.
Il progetto europeo Elviten è coordinato dal ICCS (Institute of Communication & Computer Systems) di Atene. Coinvolge 21 partner pubblici e privati provenienti da 8 diversi paesi europei (Grecia, Danimarca, Francia, Spagna, Italia, Belgio, Germania, Svizzera) che lavorano insieme per incentivare l'uso dei veicoli elettrici leggeri negli agglomerati urbani che fanno da città-pilota: Berlino, Genova, Roma, Bari e Trikala.
