Improving urban mobility is a priority at the local level, so that, in the next period, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the Municipality of Sibiu made in 2017 will be updated to meet current travel needs. The update of this plan will be made within the project "Smart Strategy based on Integration and Urbanization SMART - SIBIU SMART", funded by European funds under the Operational Program Administrative Capacity, through which the City of Sibiu will update the Urban Development Strategy of Sibiu.
"We are starting to work on this document in order to establish a coherent development strategy. I signed the contract with SC Foreign Investment Projects Consulting SRL Bucharest, having as subcontractor the Dutch company MobyCon BV. In the next 6 months, they will carry out field studies, public consultations and will design the new Mobility Plan. Specifically, we are looking for solutions to improve the mobility of the inhabitants, whether it is about transport by car, walking, cycling or public transport. It is important to mention that we will also consider improving the connections with the neighbouring localities," explained Astrid Fodor, mayor of Sibiu.
Sibiu City Hall has established the following main parameters for updating the Mobility Plan:
