The city has decided to implement a monthly Vegan event at one of the municipal markets
The municipal website of Sintra (Portugal) announced that the local government has decided to give some public support and space to the vegan community and their business output. For this purpose, on 29 August, the Estefânia Municipal Market will host the Sintra Vegan Market event, which will feature around 30 brands of 100% vegetable and cruelty-free products. All together they will be part of what has been described as Sintra's first vegan market space.
The Vegan edition will be the debut of what will become a monthly event for the entire community. The market's idea is to become the gateway to achieving the mission of transforming Sintra into a pioneering municipality in the struggle for social justice.
After all, we are aware that veganism is more than just a dietary choice and comes with its own outlook on life.
To that end, the market promises to bring in a dialogue for environmental sustainability, animal rights and support 100% vegetable producers - ones that are cruelty-free and concerned with the environment.
In this first edition, which has the support of the Municipality of Sintra, there will be workshops and conversations that the brands will “offer” in exchange for a conscious and optional donation. There will also be a wide variety of products for sale and plenty of entertainment.
Entry to the market is free and takes place from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Producers at the Estefânia Municipal Market are located outside, whereas the inside is reserved for restaurants and catering sections, where one can try a variety of local dishes. The exterior also counts with a lounge space, which had been completely renovated with a modernized concept.
