¿Sabían que España es el tercer país del mundo en cuanto a objetos de Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la UNESCO? Incluso si no lo supiera, es muy probable que no se sorprenden demasiado con esa pequeña información. Y es precisamente esa falta de sorpresa lo que dice mucho sobre la imagen que tiene ese país en el imaginario popular entre la gente de todo el mundo y los entusiastas del turismo cultural.
Sin embargo, la competencia siempre es dura, por lo que las autoridades turísticas del país ibérico han decidido ceñirse al principio de “si lo tienes, haz alarde de ello”. Para ello, representantes del Grupo de las 15 Ciudades Patrimonio de la Humanidad de España se reunieron ayer con el secretario de Estado de Turismo, Fernando Valdés, para discutir el papel del Grupo en el Plan de Modernización y Competitividad del sector turístico.
El plan general es promover los destinos inicialmente en los mercados nacional y europeo dada la alta incertidumbre que rodea a los viajes internacionales. Así, se firmó un acuerdo entre las Ciudades Patrimoniales y Paradores, una cadena estatal de hoteles de alta categoría con casi 100 años de antigüedad, ubicados en edificios históricos adaptados, como palacios, monasterios y castillos.
“Hemos cerrado hoy los acuerdos que se incluirán en la firma del convenio entre Ciudades Patrimonio y Paradores que contemplan presentaciones nacionales en Sevilla y Madrid y también internacionales en París y Lisboa, además con el compromiso de que en el último trimestre del año se pueden hacer promociones con Turespaña en Estados Unidos y en el mercado asiático”, ha dicho Antonio Rodríguez Osuna, alcalde de Mérida y también el Presidente del Grupo de Ciudades de Patrimonio.
La idea es capturar esa capa de élite de turistas que han tenido experiencia con el lujo que ofrece la marca Paradores y sinergizar la marca de las ciudades patrimoniales con la marca de los hoteles de prestigio para aprovechar el factor de fidelidad. Sin embargo, hay más en el plato.
“Queremos apostar por la calidad, la sostenibilidad, la innovación tecnológica, la accesibilidad y la diversificación de la oferta, con la creación de nuevos paquetes y productos turísticos que se puedan comercializar todo el año, dirigidos al mercado nacional e internacional, y que supongan la transformación de nuestra oferta turística adaptada a los retos de futuro, en el marco del Plan de Competitividad y Modernización del Gobierno de España”, ha añadido Rodríguez Osuna.
