Entièrement modernisée et réaménagée, la bibliothèque de Luxembourg fête une décennie de lecture avec 26 milles inscrites
Alors que la Cité Bibliothèque fête aujourd’hui son 10e anniversaire, la Ville de Luxembourg dispose d’une bibliothèque depuis cinq décennies. Depuis sa création en 1968 à la place du Théâtre disposant de 4.000 volumes, la bibliothèque s’est considérablement élargie et a diversifiée les formats et les services offerts. Le 26 septembre 2008 marque l’ouverture de la Cité Bibliothèque dans au complexe Cercle Cité. Au delà des 105.000 ouvrages en luxembourgeois, allemand, français et anglais, la Cité Bibliothèque dispose au total de 35 postes de travail ainsi que de 5 postes d’accès à Internet, d’un coin de lecture avec journaux et magazines ainsi que des animations pour petits et grands. Ainsi, tous les samedis la Cité Bibliothèque invite les enfants de 4 à 8 ans à des lectures interactives. Des programmes pour adultes se déroulent deux fois par mois, notamment pendant les «mardis littéraires».
La bibliothèque étant un carrefour des arts, des lettres et de la culture, elle s’est décorée de plusieurs œuvres artistiques qui stimulent les sens. « Particles » de l’artiste Michèle Tonteling, représente une composition mosaïque à forme humaine, créée à partir de moulages de parties de corps humains. Les empreintes corporelles forment ainsi un corps entier bien que fragmenté. Une installation dans les grandes baies vitrées donnant sur la rue Genistre de panneaux coulissants aux couleurs « multiplicity » conçus par Beng Architectes Associés S.A. augmente d’un côté le degré de reconnaissance du bâtiment en rappelant l’identité visuelle de la Ville de Luxembourg, et constitue de l’autre côté une protection solaire à l’intérieur de la bibliothèque.
