Over 200 children from 8 clubs took part in the demonstrations and games in Vidin on the last day of the European Week of Sports in Bulgaria. At the end of the #BeActiveTour initiative, organized by the Municipality of Vidin and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the residents of the town along the Danube rejoiced and applauded the young athletes in the demonstrations of football, athletics, basketball, streetball, volleyball, judo and canoeing.
The event was opened by the Chief of Staff of the Minister of Youth and Sports and project manager of the European Week of Sports, Alexander Georgiev. He said the main goals of the campaign were to inspire more children to play sports and to attract more people to an active and healthy lifestyle. He thanked the clubs, athletes and children participating in the #BeActiveTour.
"Vidin is again part of the European Week of Sports, for which I congratulate you. I believe that with your help we will reach even more young people who will choose the sport of their preference and will one day glorify your city and Bulgaria," he said.
"The government of Bulgaria and the local authorities must work together to ensure the health and future of our children. I am glad that there are so many young people at this event today, because without sports there is no health, and without health there is no future", added at the opening of #BeActiveTour in Vidin its mayor Dr. Tsvetan Tsenkov. He received an honorary plaque from the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the support provided in the implementation of the initiative #BeActive European Week of Sport 2021.
