The largest planetarium in Romania will open in Brasov Zoo Park

The investment is approximately 1 million euro

The largest planetarium in Romania will open at Brasov Zoo Park in April 2019. Movies from a variety of categories - astronomy, geography or biology will be promoted there. Shows of 30-40 minutes will give visitors the chance to travel to the most remote places on Earth, on every planet of the galaxy, or see animations that can help them better understand the concepts of geography, meteorology, astronomy or biology.

The cost of the project is approximately 1 million euro. It will be the largest planetarium in Romania in terms of capacity, with 103 seats in a 300-sqm amphitheatre, with a slope of 23.5 degrees, to give the feeling of depth. By comparison, the largest planetariums in the country currently have 45-50 seats. The building has a platform for spectators, and a lift is also available to facilitate wheelchair access.

Brasov is a city in the Transylvania region of Romania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains. It's known for its medieval Saxon walls and bastions, the towering Gothic-style Black Church and lively cafes. Council Square in the cobbled old town is surrounded by colourful baroque buildings and is home to the Casa Sfatului, a former town hall turned into a local history museum.
