Bulgaria - part of the biggest sports festival in Europe
"For the seventh year, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is organizing European Week of Sport. Bulgaria is again part of the biggest sports festival on the continent. I am sure that this year the event will be of great interest.
Our mission is to ignite more and more children to play sports, to attract more and more people to an active and healthy lifestyle," said the Deputy Minister.
The event was attended by some of the ambassadors of the European Week of Sport - the Olympic champions of the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Ensemble Simona Dyankova, Laura Traats, Madeleine Radukanova, Erika Zafirova and Stefani Kiryakova and the silver medalist of the World Table Tennis Championships for people with disabilities Denislav Kodzhabashev.
They called on young people to be active and involved in the events of the campaign.
The opening ceremony of the initiative was also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Minister of Youth and Sports and the project manager of "European Week of Sport", Alexander Georgiev, who welcomed the participants in the initiative.
European Sports Week #BeActive is part of the European Commission's initiative to promote sport and physical activity to EU citizens. The national coordinator for Bulgaria is the Ministry of Youth and Sports, co-financed by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. This year's motto of the initiative is "It's time to be active again, nothing can stop you."
All activities, part of the European Week of Sport, will take place in strict compliance with the requirements and regulations of the Ministry of Health and the recommendations of the European Commission for public events in a changing epidemiological situation as a result of the spread of COVID-19.
