Mientras tanto, las restricciones no significan que el 50% de la población activa de taxistas se haya quedado sin empleo. Lo que se introdujo como una regla de solidaridad y equidad fue que los conductores se turnaran según la fórmula de que los automóviles con matrículas impares circulan en los días impares y las de números pares ocupan los días pares del mes.
El sistema de turnos alternos significa que en un día determinado hay 820 taxis con licencia operando en las calles de la ciudad. Más de una veintena de ellos son siempre coches adaptados para atender a personas con movilidad reducida.
