¿Has oído hablar del urbanismo táctico? Muchas de las historias que compartimos aquí en TheMayor.EU tratan sobre ese enfoque para hacer pequeñas cosas para mejorar la vida en la ciudad de manera perceptible. Otro ejemplo reciente de esto proviene de la ciudad española de Valencia, donde está el proyecto en curso "Entorno escolar seguro".
Parte clave de la misma fue la instalación de bancos hechos con tapas de botellas recicladas. Lo que esto pretende lograr es crear mobiliario urbano más duradero y también integrar ejemplos de reciclaje de la vida real en el entorno educativo. De esa manera, para los niños que crecen, los productos hechos con materiales reutilizados se convierten en la nueva normalidad y en algo que esperar.
En cuanto a la estructura de estos bancos, sus lados están hechos de acero galvanizado en caliente, y el asiento y el respaldo están hechos de polietileno postconsumo 100% reciclado (aquí hay un nuevo término con el que podemos ser amigables). No producen astillas ni grietas, son resistentes a insectos, como gusanos o termitas y tienen una durabilidad 5 veces mayor que la madera. También son resistentes a los grafitis.
Además, el peso de cada banco es de 35 kg lo que equivale a 4.300 botellas. Es decir que evita la incineración de las botellas y el vertido de CO² extra a la atmósfera o vertederos.
Las escuelas en las que ya se han llevado a cabo las mejoras del proyecto 'Entornos escolares seguros' son las escuelas de Educación Infantil y Primaria (CEIP) La Fontenta, en La Fontenta; El profesor Sanchis Guarner y Antonio Machado, en Torrefiel; y Rodríguez Fornos, en el distrito de Safranar.
En todos ellos, el entorno circundante se ha diseñado para que coincida con el aspecto del mobiliario urbano. Además, esta semana estas mismas acciones se llevarán a cabo en dos centros más, el CEIP Benimàmet y el profesor del CEIP Sebastián Burgos.
