El pabellón servirá como punto focal para el evento World Design Capital 2022
El alcalde de Valencia, Joan Ribó, presentó ayer el proyecto del pabellón Ágora Valéncia. Se trata de una instalación arquitectónica que servirá como sede y lugar de encuentro para los participantes y visitantes del evento World Design Capital 2022 que tendrá lugar en la ciudad en junio.
La estructura modular, que estará en la Plaza del Ayuntamiento, representará lo mejor del diseño y la arquitectura local, repleta de simbolismo en torno a los temas de sostenibilidad y estética. Su construcción ya ha comenzado y tardará dos meses en completarse.
Una vez finalizado el evento, el edificio se trasladará a Valencia Marina, donde volverá a servir como punto focal, esta vez del Design District planificado de la ciudad.
El objetivo de Miguel Arraiz, el arquitecto local encargado de diseñar el pabellón, es que la instalación demuestre el vínculo entre la ciudad, la industria y el potencial del diseño.
El Ágora Valéncia, con una planta de 24 por 10 metros y una altura de 10 metros, será de madera y varilla cerámica. El techo, realizado por el artista fallero Manolo García, simboliza las olas del mar Mediterráneo y se iluminará por la noche como si de un faro se tratase. La estructura es un proyecto sostenible, en el que se han utilizado un 50% de materiales reciclados.
El pabellón albergará el primero de los siete Signature Events promovidos en conjunto con la Organización Mundial del Diseño, que atraerá a más de dos millones de personas, 200.000 de las cuales, visitantes extranjeros.
El Ágora es una estructura efímera que permanecerá en Ciutat Vella durante seis meses, de junio a diciembre. Posteriormente se trasladará a la Marina de Valencia gracias al sistema constructivo modular con el que se ha realizado. Se ha ahorrado hasta un 70% de agua en el proceso de producción de los materiales, y no se han utilizado disolventes.
