Viana do Castelo has been chosen as the best district to live in Portugal. The 18 districts of Portugal were evaluated by 14 998 people living in Portugal, who classified the region where they live according to 12 factors: Safety, Cleanliness, Air Quality, Silence, Public Transportation, Shops and Restaurants, Leisure Venues, Health Spaces, General Cost of Living, Access and Parking.
The most northerly Atlantic city in the country received the best evaluation in the criteria of the quality of the air, accesses and silence. Viana do Castelo has an overall rating of 4.02 on a scale of 1 to 5. The other districts entering the top five are Vila Real, Viseu, Leiria and Braga. Lisbon ranks in 10th place.
