Free tests can be found on offer for nursing homes visitors and staff
The Austrian capital of Vienna continues to expand its free testing capabilities. Earlier this week, the city unveiled its newest testing road at the Austria Centre Vienna (ACV) in the Donaustadt especially for visitors to nursing homes and hospitals.
Thanks to this latest upgrade, citizens of Vienna who would like to visit their relatives in the nursing home can, only after registering online, perform a free quick test every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The testing grounds are also made available to practitioners of healthcare professions. Results of the tests will become available in 15 minutes.
Upon the unveiling of the new testing street, Michael Ludwig, the mayor of Vienna, stated that “We have always tested very intensively in Vienna. Vienna not only tests a lot, but also specifically tests professional groups in order to protect critical infrastructure such as hospitals and especially those people who are particularly affected.”
The test road at the Austria Center Vienna complements the two existing test roads in the Prater near the Ernst Happel Stadium and on the Danube Island by the Floridsdorfer Bridge. It is set up by the City of Vienna, regardless of the locations for the federal government's “mass testing campaign”.
Health Councilor Peter Hacker highlighted the government’s readiness to work on the new testing road based on its past experiences. He stated that "After the positive experiences with the test roads in the Prater and on the Danube Island for travellers returning in summer and autumn, we are opening another free test option for Viennese together with the Austria Center Vienna. It is important for us to provide the broadest and most accessible range possible. In Vienna, this procedure has been followed since the beginning of the pandemic. The offer in the Austria Center Vienna is available to all Viennese who, for example, want to visit their relatives in a nursing home or other medical facility.”
