From June, people can admire the Reformatų Square Garden, take a walk along the new Paplaujos Boulevard and while away the time on the right bank of the Neris River
More green spaces will be available to Vilnius residents this summer, with renovated parks, squares and streets opening to the public in June, informs the city website.
At the end of June, the long-awaited Reformatų Square Garden whose makeover was delayed by archaeological finds will finally be open to visitors. The garden designed by Vilniaus Planas will stand out among other parks with its interesting plants and landscape architecture.
The new green space will feature LED lighting, a children's playground, recreation area with planted roses, dancing fountain and seasonal café. At the centre of Reformatų Square will stand a monument to the pioneers of the Reformation and Lithuanian letters which is planned to be inaugurated next year.
Vilnius residents living in the southern part of the city will soon be able to walk along the new Paplaujos Boulevard, while the reconstruction of Manufaktūrų Street and the public space next to it nears completion. To facilitate access to the growing and popular Paupis district, newly installed pedestrian and bicycle paths lead from Paplaujos Boulevard directly to Paupis. A new Architecture Park will be completed on the boulevard connecting the neighbourhoods along the bend of Vilnelė (Vilnia River).
Vegetation will be arranged in front of apartment buildings near Belmont, at the beginning of Manufaktūrų Street, and on the left side of Drujos Street will emerge a small square with a children's playground. The area is also well adapted for people with disabilities.
In June, Vilnius residents will be able to use the renovated recreational areas near the rowing base at Neris River and the Energy and Technology Museum. There will be outdoor cafes awaiting visitors, and tired walkers will be able to sit on the steps installed on the river slope.
During the implementation of the project prepared by Vilniaus Planas, a terrace will be installed at the rowing base on Olimpiečių Street, and respect will be paid to the achievements of Lithuanian Paralympians by creating a small square with a monument and nameplates.
