Vilnius to have the most modern railway museum in Eastern Europe

Vilnius to have the most modern railway museum in Eastern Europe

The new museum will boast holograms, virtual reality and many other forms of advanced and high-tech storytelling

Say hello to the only railway museum in Lithuania – its situated in Vilnius, at the city’s train station and it offers a thorough look into the past of the country’s railways. In 2019 Lithuanian Railways celebrates the 100-year anniversary since the start of independent train operations in the Baltic state. To mark the occasion, the company has announced a massive and ambitious upgrade to the museum.

Following renovations and refurbishment, in a couple of years visitors will be able to quite literally relive the past of the Lithuanian railway system. In the near future the museum will offer high-tech and state-of-the-art entertainment opportunities, including holograms, augmented reality experiences, high quality audio guides and of course many different educational tools. To further support the promotion of railway transport, the museum will be turned into a venue perfect for hosting different cultural events and activities.

Special attention is being paid to the experience of youngsters who are visiting the museum for the first time. According to the museum’s management, children from schools and kindergartens are some of the keenest on visiting the location. To make their experience even more fun, the museum will offer a special layout which allows them to operate trains themselves.

To make the train museum even more attractive, everyone who has purchased a train ticket will be able to enter the venue for free.
