Visit these museums and galleries in Prague with a 50 percent discount

As part of a municipal programme supporting the cultural sector's recovery from Covid-19

On Monday Prague announced a new measure aimed at supporting the local cultural sector, heavily affected by the attempts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic through social isolation. Over the months of July and August, the entrance fee to nine landmark cultural sites in the city is reduced with 50%. This is also meant as a “thank you” gesture for all the residents and tourists, who remained loyal to the Czech capital and will return after the difficult times of restricted travel.

Supporting culture in post-Covid-19 times

So, for the two summer months of July and August, the entrance fee will be reduced in half for the Vyšehrad National Cultural Monument, the City of Prague Museum, Prague City Gallery, the Municipal House, the Old Town Hall, Museum Kampa, the Prague Exhibition grounds, DOX PRAGUE (contemporary art), as well as the Villa Pellé Gallery. The goal is that by providing a significant discount on admissions, Prague guests and residents will be more stimulated to visit the selected cultural establishments.

"This support program is intended for holders of the Lítačka card and is, therefore, a symbolic thank you not only to the people of Prague for their help and dedication in the past months when we faced the coronavirus crisis. People will be able to visit various institutions for half the entrance fee, including the popular Old Town Hall, the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague or the Museum of the Capital City of Prague" explained the councillor in the field of culture Hana Třeštíková, quoted by the municipal portal.

The project is implemented together by the City of Prague and Prague City Tourism, with total support previewed to exceed 13 million crowns (0.5 million euros). The 50% discount is available to holders of Lítačka card (a smart system for electronic tickets for public transport, libraries and other discounts).

The selection of venues, on the other hand, was made among contributory organizations of Prague and holders of a multi-year grant in the field of fine arts, museums and exhibitions. This is one among several measures Prague implements to attract post-coronavirus tourists - last week, the website https://www.vprazejakodoma.cz/ was also launched as part of a 120-million korunas-worth programme addressing domestic and foreign tourists.
