Este año se cumplen 20 años de colaboración que, sobre todo, busca fomentar la aceptación
Cualquier tránsito urbano moderno debería ser impensable sin disposiciones en su infraestructura y vehículos para personas con movilidad reducida. Sin embargo, es bueno simplemente pensar más allá del hardware y entrar en un mundo de empatía, comprensión, solidaridad e inclusión de todo tipo de personas en todos los ámbitos de la vida.
Para ello, la autoridad del transporte urbano de Barcelona (TMB) ha recordado a todos que este año se cumplen 20 años de una colaboración que se inició entre ella y el Instituto Guttmann, un hospital especializado en ayudar a personas con discapacidad derivada de enfermedades neurológicas.
Ya en el año 2000, conductores de TMB empezaron a realizar rutas voluntarias los fines de semana por solidaridad y para ayudar a las personas con discapacidad a llegar a diferentes puntos del área metropolitana de Barcelona. En 2011, este acuerdo de colaboración se amplió aún más para dar espacio a talleres especializados.
Estos talleres los llevan a cabo empleados voluntarios de TMB que se reúnen con pacientes del Instituto Guttmann con el objetivo de mostrarles cómo funcionan las diferentes instalaciones en los autobuses y el metro y así ayudarles a sentirse más cómodos al utilizarlos.
El año pasado, por ejemplo, se llevaron a cabo 8 de estos talleres dirigidos por 26 voluntarios. Estos beneficiaron a 64 personas y cerca de 900 adicionales disfrutaron del uso de 43 servicios de autobuses especializados. Este año, debido a la situación pandémica, los talleres se han suspendido temporalmente.
Sin embargo, se asegura que una vez que la situación se normalice volverán a retomar toda su vigencia.
Es bueno saber que este tipo de programa beneficia no solo a las personas con problemas de movilidad que tienen la oportunidad de practicar la negociación de la arquitectura urbana en un entorno de apoyo, sino también a los empleados de TMB que tienen la oportunidad de experimentar el mundo desde un otro punto de vista y así fomentar un sentido de solidaridad y cooperación.
