World-famous Bran castle hosts a vaccination centre

Throughout May, visitors can get vaccinated and attend an exhibition

For one month, on weekends, the popular Bran Castle in Romania's Transylvania region will host "vaccination marathons." The first event started on Friday, 7 May 2021.

The "vaccination marathons" are arranged on the Bran domain in the Medieval Customs (Vama Medievala) buildings. There is no need to make an appointment, and the vaccines used are provided by Pfizer-BioNTech.

Those who receive the vaccine will receive a special "Bran Castle vaccination diploma". In addition, if they visit the castle, they will have free access to the display of mediaeval torture devices.

Opened every weekend in May

The Pfizer BioNTech doses vaccination marathon will be available without appointment every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout May. The following are the center's hours: Friday from 14:00 to 20:00, Saturday from 10:00 to 20:00, and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00.

Visiting Bran Castle does not overlap with a visit to the vaccination centre. The castle is just 100 metres away from the vaccination site.

"I thought it was focused primarily on Romanian tourists, we said initially, who come on weekends and stay in the area or who visit the castle, but in the meantime, I met foreign citizens - foreign residents in Romania, but also foreign citizens. This does not mean that we exclude the community or staff. We had surprises, both yesterday and today, four undecided colleagues came and were vaccinated. And members of the community," said Alexandru Prișcu, marketing director of Bran Castle.

The initiative emerged as a result of the government's plan to open vaccination centres in private units, as well as to draw visitors to Bran Castle and the surrounding guesthouses.

This weekend's goal is to immunise 500 people. The number of people is supposed to rise in the following weekends. Of course, if there is enough interest, the marathon may be extended for up to three months.
