The lack of affordable housing contributes to a teacher shortage in the Dutch capital
Mayor and governor of Vienna is Michael Häupl. He was born in Altlengbach in 1949. He obtained a PhD in Biology and Zoology at the University of Vienna and worked as an academic assistant at the National Museum of Natural History. In 1983 he became a member of the Vienna Municipal Council and in 1988 a municipal councilor for environment and sport. In 1994 he was elected mayor of Vienna, and since then his work has included the development of the city's infrastructure, the health system and education.
