Roberta Koleva is a young researcher in the field of social sciences with a background in journalism and anthropology. She graduated from the Department of Anthropology at New Bulgarian University and is starting her Master's at the Central European University in Vienna this autumn.
Roberta knows that in the 21st century, almost any social or cultural issue is influenced by media coverage and that every human practice can be impacted by media discourses. Furthermore, Roberta thinks that disinformation can be a fascinating subject to study and challenge academically – after all, a favorite exercise of anthropologists is the deconstruction of reality.
Roberta participates in Read Twice – an EU-funded project that targets young people and aims to counter disinformation and fake news by enhancing their skills to critically assess information, identify vicious and harmful media content and distinguish between facts and opinions, thus improving their media competencies.
