Valdas Benkunskas

Valdas Benkunskas was born in 1984 in Klaipeda. In 2009, he graduated with a law degree from Mykolas Romeris University. His entry into political life began as an assistant to the Seimas MP Paulius Saudargas in 2008. He also entered local politics, becoming a council member in Vilnius in 2011 and then rising to the position of vice mayor in the periods of 2015-2017 and 2019-2023.

In the March 2023 municipal elections, representing the Homeland Union - Lithuanian Christian Democrats party, he received 51.15% of the vote, enough for him to be declared the next mayor of Vilnius.
