Mayor of Warsaw is Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. She was born in 1952 in Warsaw. She graduated from the University of Warsaw with a degree in Law. For a long time, she has been involved in scientific work as well as teaching. She teaches administrative and banking law at Warsaw University. Her political career began in the structures of Solidarity in 1980. Later, she worked in the Polish National Bank. In 2006 she was elected mayor of Warsaw. Her program focuses on developing the city through numerous initiatives. Infrastructure and communications are a priority along with support for education and scientific research, creation of sporting facilities and city green areas for outdoor activity.
