Amazon Web Services opens a new office in Bucharest

To assist Romanian customers from all sectors in their transition to the cloud

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the opening of its first office in Bucharest on 19 May 2021. The new office is part of Amazon Web Services' ongoing investment in Central and Eastern Europe, as the company grows its team to serve the increasing number of customers and partners in Romania.

Romanian AWS Partners should take full advantage of all possibilities that AWS has to offer, offering business, technological, marketing, and go-to-market support to their customers. Romanian AWS Partners assist business, start-up, and public sector customers in migrating to cloud sevices.

To help businesses, start-ups, and public sector customers

With the rapid adoption of AWS among Romanian developers, start-ups, and businesses, communities have launched AWS-focused user groups in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Iasi, with over 1,100 active users. User groups are peer-to-peer networks that meet on a regular basis to exchange ideas, answer questions, and learn about innovative services and best practices from a variety of industries.

AWS continues to invest in and promote Romanian education systems through AWS Educate, a comprehensive programme for developing cloud computing skills in students aged 16 and up. Babes-Bolyai University, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, the University of Oradea, and the Valahia University of Targoviste are all AWS Educate member institutions.

Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, said: “We are pleased that AWS opened its latest office in Romania. This announcement reaffirms the country’s position as an attractive place to invest, powered by a high volume of local talented developers. This latest investment by AWS follows the EU’s recent investment decision to host the EU Cybersecurity Competence Centre in Romania, and further reinforces our country’s position as a European centre of innovation. It will also boost the adoption of advanced cloud-based technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and the Internet of Things while helping to ensure secure use across the EU’s technology sector".
