Bulgaria organizes European Week of Sports for the seventh consecutive year

The opening in Sofia on 23 September

The Ministry of Youth and Sport of Bulgaria organises the European Week of Sports #BeActive for the seventh consecutive year. Between 23 and 30 September, everyone will have the opportunity to become part of the largest sports festival for amateurs in Europe.

"It's time to be active again, nothing can stop you"

The European Sports Week will open in Sofia on 23 September (Thursday) at 6.30 pm in Knyazheska Garden. The event will be held in partnership with Sofia Urban Zone Sport 2021, organized by the Sofia - European Capital of Sport Foundation and Sofia Municipality.

Sports Village and Sports Night #BeActive Night will await the friends of sports on 25 September (Saturday), between 3 and 9 pm in the space in front of the National Palace of Culture. In the sports village over 30 federations and sports clubs will present their activities through demonstrations and information materials. The event will continue with #BeActive Night with a program on stage with the participation of the ambassadors of the European Sports Week.

In 2021, the motto of the European Sports Week is "It's time to be active again, nothing can stop you", and the initiatives will be held in Sofia, Montana, Vidin and Vratsa. The event aims to support the personal development of young people and support their sports needs.

#BeActive is part of the European Commission's initiative to promote sport and physical activity among EU citizens. The National Coordinator for Bulgaria is the Ministry of Sport, co-financed by the Erasmus + program of the European Union.

Ambassadors of the European Sports Week again this year are successful Bulgarian athletes. These are the Olympic champion in karate Ivet Goranova, the Olympic champions from the National Rhythmic Gymnastics Ensemble Simona Dyankova, Laura Traats, Madeleine Radukanova, Erika Zafirova, Stefani Kiryakova, the European Vice Champion in Rhythmic Gymnastics Boryana Kaleyn as well as European silver medalist in table tennis for people with disabilities from 2018, Denislav Kojabashev.
