Next Saturday, 27th April 2019, thousands of ducks will embark on a journey for the eighteenth edition of the famous Duck Race in Luxembourg. The capital city invites visitors of all ages to spend an exciting afternoon with family contributing to a charity cause. In 15h precise, 16 000 plastic ducks will be thrown into the Pétrusse river below the Viaduct for an unusual type of race along the cold waters. After two qualification rounds and final stage where only high-flyers will meet, there will be only one winner.
The event is organized by Table Ronde Luxembourg and is supported by the city authorities. Since 1963, the charity is committed to tolerance, friendship and service. This event is no exception as it will invest the revenue of the Duck Race for the benefit of the non-profit organization Children's Aid of India and Nepal, the non-profit association Rokku Mi Rokka and the "Stiftung Kinderchirurgie Hawassachildone" foundation.
But what is a race without awards? On top of the fun experience and the charity contribution, visitors have the chance of winning one of many prizes provided by the sponsors, such as trips, vouchers, dinners. What is more, the owner of the winning duck will receive a Volkswagen Up!
Those who are willing to participate can purchase pre-sale tickets for €5. All ducks have a number corresponding to a lottery ticket number. The pre-sale points are the Luxembourg City Tourist Office in Luxembourg City, Jerry Travel in Belval, the Lidl supermarkets and the Duck Race website. The very last opportunity to secure the participation will be the sale on site before the start of the race.
