La progression rapide du Covid-19 en France a poussé le gouvernement à étendre le couvre-feu imposé le 17 octobre à 38 départements supplémentaires. Ainsi, 54 départements de France continentale et la Polynésie française seront concernés. Le couvre-feu s'applique à partir de ce vendredi à minuit.
Malgré avoir placé Ile-de-France et huit autres métropoles sous couvre-feu samedi dernier, la France observe toujours des occurrences trop élevées du coronavirus. Le Premier ministre Jean Castex a annoncé hier une multiplication par deux des incidences au cours des 15 derniers jours, alors qu'au cours des six dernières semaines, le nombre des nouveaux cas a été multiplié par trois parmi les personnes âgées.
C'est pourquoi, jeudi, le Conseil de Défense et de Sécurité nationale a décidé d’étendre le couvre-feu bien au-delà des 9 grandes villes, pour inclure un total de 54 départements, sur 95.
La carte ci-dessous publiée par le Gouvernement montre les zones rouges, où un couvre-feu s'appliquera de 21h le soir à 6h le matin, à partir du samedi :

L'état d'urgence sanitaire sur l'ensemble du territoire français étant toujours valide, les mesures annoncées précédemment continuent de s'appliquer dans tout le pays tandis que le couvre-feu ne sera appliqué que pour les départements les plus concernés. Les règles dureront au moins quatre semaines avec la possibilité d'une prolongation si la situation se détériorait.
Depuis hier 22 octobre, la France compte près d'un million de cas positifs, ce qui la place juste après la Russie et l'Espagne en Europe, selon les données de l'OMS.
