Run Rome The Marathon 2020 will be held in March
"Run Rome The Marathon", the great race of the Italian capital is one of the most attractive races in the world. 42.195 km of race track will cross the same roads that the ancient Romans travelled on more than two thousand years ago. There, where every glimpse tells a story and every look is as eternal as Rome.
The date of the next "Run Rome The Marathon" is 29th March 2020. Renewed, the project will put in great energy and a great desire to show that Rome loves sport and in particular runners. The race is a truly international event with tens of thousands of athletes, half of them coming from hundreds of countries.
Virginia Raggi, mayor of Rome states that "It will be a celebration from all and for all. An event that will be presented with a new look, starting from the organization of the event that after years has been selected with a public tender".
The Marathon represents a path that crosses the history of Rome and its symbolic monuments. Furthermore, the renewed Rome Marathon will be a top-level sporting event, the synergy between the organization and the municipality of Rome must be transformed into the most representative running event in Italy, the symbol of the Capital.
The event will be open on Saturday, bringing together everyone who wants to have fun and enjoy Rome free from cars and smog. On 29th March the race will start from the Fori Imperiali, passing in front of the Vittoriano, Piazza Venezia, then Circo Massimo towards Lungotevere, and then will pass in front of Castel Sant’Angelo and St. Peter’s Basilica.
The Marathon will continue with the Foro Italico, the Mosque of Rome, Piazza Navona, Via del Corso, Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna (with the famous staircase of Trinità dei Monti), with the Colosseum, the biggest protagonist providing for a majestic starting location and finish line.
