Les autorités et les chercheurs de l'université projettent une ville intelligente à taille humaine
La Mairie de Cannes et l’Université Côte d’Azur (UCA) mèneront une étude sur la mobilité urbaine et la revitalisation économique du centre-ville. Cela est devenu clair lors de la réunion du conseil municipal de cette semaine. L'objectif ultime de la collaboration est de préparer les conditions d'un centre-ville intelligent et humain, adapté au monde de demain.
Dans le cadre du projet, l'Université et les autorités locales étudieront la mobilité urbaine et le développement des commerces du centre-ville de Cannes. L’accent sera mis sur l’axe commercial central de la rue d’Antibes.
En particulier, le département Smart City de l'UCA - Institut Méditerranéen du Risque, de l'Environnement et du Développement Durable (IMREDD) étudiera la façon dont le centre-ville est redynamisée par la mobilité et le développement urbain et comment améliorer la qualité des services et le bien-être pour une « ville intelligente et aimable ».

Le projet devrait durer au moins un an et demi et s'inscrit dans la lignée des engagements électoraux pris par le maire sortant David Lisnard, pour soutenir le commerce local, en particulier pendant la période critique de la pandémie de coronavirus.
Cité sur le site municipal, le maire a commenté : « L’enjeu fondamental de cette étude innovante, menée par la Mairie de Cannes en partenariat avec l’UCA et l’IMREDD, est de replacer l’humain au cœur du centre-ville et de donner un avenir aux commerces de proximité. Les flux piétons, automobiles et logistiques doivent être facilités et optimisés pour permettre une meilleure appropriation de ces secteurs essentiels de cohésion sociale et de dynamisme économique. »
