The first of the 300 planned cultural activities is a Don Quixote-themed escape room
The government of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) has started the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the autonomous statute of the region. The Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, Ana Muñoz, inaugurated this morning, in the city of Ciudad Real, the first of the 300 cultural activities that are going to take place in the region.
The first activity in question was an escape room called “The Treasure of Don Quixote”, which shows “in a fun way” the different attractions of the region and its cultural symbols.
In a way, Castilla-La Mancha represents Spain in the popular and literary imagination thanks to the timeless classic work of Don Quixote, written by Miguel de Cervantes at the start of the 17th century during the Spanish Golden Age. Most of the adventures of the hidalgo (accompanied by his trusty page Sancho Panza) took place in La Mancha.
The escape room will remain in Ciudad Real until next Saturday, the day on which a light and sound show will take place. Then it will continue its journey through another 30 locations until the month of October.
More than 40 professionals have participated in the development of the project and eight people have participated in its staging. The facility holding it has been built rather quickly, with a structure more than 35 meters long by 20 wide, in addition to the use of two 12-meter-long trucks.
Ana Muñoz, who wanted to thank all the provincial councils for their involvement in the celebration of these 40 years, pointed out that the escape room, which was inaugurated today, is one of the numerous activities that have been designed so that they can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
In this sense, she has indicated that this activity "will be visited by groups of schoolchildren, associations and citizens in general to rediscover the true treasures of historical, natural or literary heritage that Castilla-La Mancha has."
