Tasty food, wine and an outdoor music program during the winter holidays await you
This year, the residents and guests of the Bulgarian capital Sofia will have the opportunity to enjoy not one but two Christmas markets. Initiatlly, there were supposed to be three of them but one was scrapped due to the deteriorating epidemiological situation in the city. The observance of the anti-epidemic measures at all of the locations will be monitored by security.
On Friday, 20 November, the Tenth Anniversary Edition of the German Christmas Bazaar was opened in the City Garden near Battenberg Square. The bazaar offers its traditional temptations - mulled wine, German cuisine and Christmas decorations.
Every evening there will be a music program with the participation of children and students from the Music School of Sofia. Everyone is invited to visit the bazaar until 22 December.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a plexiglass barrier is placed in front of each food stand. Unfortunately, there will be no children's workshop this year. In addition to the organizers, security will also be monitoring compliance with the anti-epidemic measures.
From 4 to 31 December in front of the “Kabana cinema” in the park in front of the National Palace of Culture will be located "Sofia - Christmas City". On the stage of "Kabana" you will be able to enjoy a cultural program every day. This year was supposed to be the debut of the first-ever Christmas market on Slaveykov Square but its opening was scrapped at the last minute.
Unlike Sofia, cities across Europe, have cancelled their Christmas celebrations this year due to eh pandemic. Although the citizens of Sofia will have the opportunity to enjoy the city's traditional Christmas markets, the Sofia Municipality and mayor Fandakova herself have repeatedly stressed that there will be no definite weakening of the anti-epdeimiological measures in Sofia in any way.
