Since the foundation in 1919 the University of Latvia with its more than 14 000 students, 13 faculties and over 20 research institutes and independent study centres, is one of the largest comprehensive and leading research universities in the Baltics. The construction of University of Latvia Academic Centre has begun and work is scheduled for completion by 2021.
The total project cost is 90 million Euros provided by investment banks, the Latvian government and university revenues, as well as the EU. 30 million Euros comes from EU funding and other 30 million Euros has been provided by the European Investment Bank for the second stage of the construction of the University of Latvia’s Academic Centre in Riga. The new buildings will provide modern premises for a number of the University’s faculties and institutes.
