Croatia unveils two new opportunities for Digital Nomads

Remote workers can apply for a chance to win a one-month free stay in Zagreb

Over the last several months, Croatia has gained a reputation as one of the best places for digital nomads. In January, the country announced that it will offer temporary stay visas for such workers and in March, it announced the first ever digital nomad-in-residence competition.

Now, it takes two more important steps towards securing its position as one of the best locations in the EU for digital nomads. That is, Croatia’s local remote work specialists Saltwater Nomads announced two upcoming opportunities: Zagreb Digital Nomad Week 2021 and Zagreb Digital Nomad Ambassador Project.

Zagreb Digital Nomad Week 2021

This week will take place from 21 to 27 June and it is aimed at both experienced and new digital nomads. Over the 7 days of the week, 7 key themes will be explored and discussed: cyber security, online presence, remote careers, tax and finance, future of work, wellbeing, and exploring Zagreb.

Saltwater Nomads explains that they have several venue partners including Hilton Canopy, Swanky Mint Hostel, Hub385, Impact Hub, etc. As such, each day of the program will take place in a different location, beginning with the Hilton Canopy on 21 June.

It must be noted that the program will feature key speakers such as the initiator of the digital nomad permit Jan de Jong as well as experts in tax, finance, lifestyle, technology, and cyber security.

Zagreb Digital Nomad Ambassador Project

The Zagreb Tourist Board is inviting remote workers to apply to become digital nomad ambassadors and win a one-month free stay in the capital of Croatia. The project will run for six months from July until December. This means that six digital nomads (and their families) will get the chance to live in and work from Zagreb for free for the duration of a month.

Applications for this project are now open and the first winner will be announced during the Zagreb Digital Nomad Week in June 2021. According to Saltwater Nomads, applications will be received on a rolling basis until 1 November.

Those interested in applying must be over the age of 18, available to work remotely, and capable of sharing their experiences online. The Zagreb Digital Nomad Ambassadors will be seen as “special guests” of the Zagreb Tourist Board. Moreover, they will be required to promote life as a digital nomad in Croatia on social media platforms.
