You need 1 euro to unlock the scooter and 15 cents per minute for the ride
Electric scooters are nothing new in Rome, but this summer the sharing system is rapidly increasing in popularity among residents and visitors of the Italian capital. You may notice more and more often the circulation of the new form of urban micro-mobility on city streets. Rental costs to unlock the scooters, or monopattini in Italian, is 1 euro, followed by a fix per minute rate, with a maximum speeds of around 25km per hour.
How do e-scooters work? First of all, you need to download the App, and register your credit card to pay the cost of the rides: 1 euro to unlock the scooter and 15 cents per minute for the ride. The vehicle is designed for short and fast journeys, the so-called last mile. Once the application has been downloaded, just open it and the electric scooters that are near you will appear on the map, georeferenced. Next to the scooter icon it is also possible to see how much life is left in its battery and also by clicking, you can check how many more kilometers the vehicle can travel. Once you arrive near your chosen electric scooter, simply give yourself a small push and it will start up. It can also be paused if, for example, you need a break to get some coffee. When done, the vehicle can always keep going.
