Free electric bike sharing arrives in Rome in June

To reduce pollution and traffic

The Elviten project (Electrified L-category Vehicles Integrated into Transport and Electricity), funded by the European Union, will start in June. The main activity of the initiative is the experimentation of electric bike sharing in the Italian capital. It is an innovative initiative involving several pilot cities. The objective - to promote a new and integrated city mobility system, which can contribute to reduce pollution and traffic and to increase security.

The plan includes the installation of 78 charging and parking stations, called e-hubs, in 8 areas in the municipality where the 78 electric bicycles will be placed at the disposal of citizens. The first installations will start in May, the bike sharing service will be operational by June and will last 12-14 months. Booking and use of vehicles will be done through an app. The service will be free and for the use of bicycles, approved and registered, helmet and license will be required.
