Largest Google Cloud Technology development centre in Europe opens in Warsaw

Enhancing the tech giant’s presence in Poland even further

The largest Google Cloud Technology Development centre in Europe opened its doors yesterday in Warsaw, 25 October, local authorities informed. The new facility will bring together top experts in the development of Google cloud technology, for the use of customers around the globe. This is yet another demonstration of the company’s investment goals in Poland and in particular, of the capital’s attractiveness to the tech giant.

Warsaw becomes all the more attractive to the technology sector

Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski attended the opening of the new office on Monday. He said, as quoted on the city website, that this “is an example of an initiative that contributes to building a knowledge-based economy and influences the economic development of our metropolis. It also allows to effectively compete with other cities in Europe and the world for the title of a leader. A leader who attracts investments, capital and talents and with whom it is worth tie-up for a long time”.

Google Polska CEO Magdalena Kotlarczyk informed that the office is officially set to become operational on Tuesday and it is expected that the team will significantly expand over the next few years, attracting talented engineers from all over the world.

Google Cloud Technology Development Centre is located in the Warsaw Hub office complex in the city centre, occupying over 20,000 square metres of space.

The announcement of the planned investment follows the earlier inauguration of a cloud region in Warsaw, evaluated at 2 billion euros which happened in April.

The inauguration of the centre follows a trend of expansion of Google’s presence in Poland since the company opened its first office here in 2006. The company reportedly employs over 800 people in Warsaw only, including 500 engineers and it has seen its Polish team triple within a few years only.

In order to successfully compete with other cities in Europe and the world and to maintain the title of a leader, the city's priority under the #Warsaw2030 Strategy is to improve the conditions for attracting specialists with unique knowledge and skills, including technological talents, from Poland and abroad.
