La devolución del vehículo presenta mejoras tecnológicas que garantizan aún más seguridad
El lunes 20 de septiembre, CTM (Consorcio Transportes Madrid) restableció el servicio de autobús sin conductor que circulaba en el campus de Cantoblanco de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). Esta vez, el vehículo EasyMile se ha actualizado con algunas características nuevas de alta tecnología que permitirán una gestión remota más fluida y una mayor seguridad para los pasajeros a bordo.
El minibús sin conductor comenzó a correr en bucle de 3.8 km en el campus de Cantoblanco en octubre de 2020. Incorporaba tecnología LIDAR, un sistema de detección de objetos por láser y un sistema de medición.
Al parecer, en algún momento el servicio se interrumpió temporalmente para implementar las actualizaciones necesarias. Ahora cuenta con una actualización de hardware y dos dispositivos LIDAR más para mejorar la seguridad, definición y supervisión del terreno tanto para peatones como para vehículos.
Otras mejoras presentes en el software del vehículo son un mapa de ruta que introduce las mejoras de la ruta y una actualización del sistema de frenado para hacerla más suave. Estas mejoras también permiten aumentar la velocidad gracias a la nueva capacidad del vehículo para evitar obstáculos siempre que sea posible.
Los cinturones de seguridad son ahora parte de los seis asientos presentes en el interior. El vehículo puede transportar 12 pasajeros en total, la mitad de los cuales sentados.
Por otro lado, se han introducido modificaciones que permiten incrementar la gestión y revisión remota del bus desde el puesto de control, como rearmar y reiniciar el sistema o evitar obstáculos.
El vehículo no tiene conductor, ni tiene volante para usar, pero por seguridad, es obligatorio que siempre viaje en él un operador. Puede accionarlo manualmente en caso de incidente utilizando una palanca de control, similar a un joystick de videojuegos.
