Cette année encore, selon la tradition, plusieurs maires français ont décidé de souhaiter le succès aux futurs collégiens de leur ville en leur offrant le cadeau le plus précieux: un livre. La semaine dernière, la municipalité de Cannes par exemple, a annoncé que 668 étudiants locaux recevront des dictionnaires par le maire David Lisnard.
Chaque année depuis 2014, le maire Lisnard rencontre les élèves du niveau CM2 pour leur offrir un dictionnaire encyclopédique. Avec cette initiative, le maire veut encourager chaque élève à explorer la langue, avant d'entrer en sixième, une étape importante du cycle d'apprentissage. En 2020, les cadeaux sont un dictionnaire Hachette collège et un dictionnaire Anglais-Français pour chaque étudiant.
Le dictionnaire est comme un écran magique car sa valeur n'expire pas, il n'a pas besoin d'être rechargé, a expliqué à Lisnard aux écoliers de l'école Saint-Exupéry qu'il a rencontrés le matin du 23 juin. Le dictionnaire vous apprend à bien parler et bien maîtriser la langue, c’est très important pour réussir dans la vie, a-t-il poursuivi.
Par ailleurs, dans le cadre des activités périscolaires, la mairie de Cannes initie chaque élève du CP (cours préparatoire) au niveau CM2 (cinquième année scolaire) à des ateliers d'étymologie grecque et latine. Cette action vise à soutenir la langue française et à développer la citoyenneté des jeunes.
Cannes, bien évidemment, n’est qu’une parmi plusieurs mairies avec de telles initiatives symboliques. Le type de cadeau varie -c’est parfois un roman, un kit étudiant, mais toujours ces cadeaux veulent souligner l’importants de pouvoir bien maîtriser la langue.
