A package of measures to help students with a head start
North Rhine-Westphalia wants to promote more opportunities for young entrepreneurs. On Monday, 17 May 2021, the state launched a package of measures to help inform schoolchildren and trainees about their opportunities as young entrepreneurs.
In two workshops with representatives from the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Children and Youth and the Ministry of Justice developed a package of measures to target young founders to support. Among other things, more information is to be provided on the start-up process for minors, role models, competitions and student companies.
The measures include:
According to an online survey, 49 percent of the students want to set up their own company later. The state government now wants to promote this entrepreneurial spirit at an early age and better support young people interested in founding a company.
“The image of an older, male entrepreneur with a cigar is still widespread. We want to show young people what entrepreneurship looks like in reality and how they can get involved. In order to accompany them on their way, we have set up a network of mentors and contact persons who are available to the young people with all important questions," said Economics and Digital Minister Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart.
Children and Youth Minister Dr. Joachim Stamp commented about the new measures: “It's great when children and young people discover their entrepreneurial spirit and want to start their own company. Building up your own professional existence is a very formative step in your own development."
What are the reasons for that and are there any possible solutions for that problem?
