El 15 de junio, el concejal de Infraestructuras de Palma de Mallorca, Antoni Martín, entregó kits de siembra a los nuevos beneficiarios de las parcelas de huerta eco-social de la ciudad, cedidas por el Ayuntamiento. Eso, sin embargo, no fue todo.
El evento estuvo acompañado de una sesión de capacitación sobre métodos de jardinería orgánicos y responsables. Las autoridades locales buscan fomentar un enfoque particular para el cuidado de la tierra y las plantas que esté en armonía con los nuevos valores y la comprensión del medio ambiente.
La red de huertos eco-sociales de Palma está formada por un total de 138 parcelas de huerto que tienen unas dimensiones de unos 20 metros cuadrados y se adjudican por un plazo de 3 años a personas mayores de 65 años y / o a asociaciones sin ánimo de lucro que trabajan en el área de accesibilidad. El Servicio de Parques y Jardines municipal revisa periódicamente las solicitudes y adjudica estos espacios, a medida que se liberan, a nuevos beneficiarios si se considera que cumplen con el perfil requerido.
El personal del mismo servicio municipal fue también quien realizo la formación en horticultura responsable para los nuevos jardineros. El taller, celebrado en el Vivero Municipal, estuvo dirigido a todos los adjudicatarios de los jardines eco-sociales ubicados en cuatro zonas de Palma: Parc de la Riera, Les Sorts, Vivero Municipal y Son Perera.
Durante esta formación, se explicó a los asistentes la importancia de realizar técnicas de agricultura ecológica en los huertos y de respetar también la normativa que establece los cultivos más adecuados para estos espacios.
La web municipal de Palma también recordó a los interesados que aún quedan por adjudicar 18 plazas en el Parque de Son Perera y 13 en el Vivero Municipal y que toda la documentación necesaria está disponible en esa misma web.
