See how Vienna Municipality protects the rose bushes in winter

The Austrian capital has a total of 2,000 parks

Approximately 50% of Vienna, about 200 square kilometres, are green areas. A large part of these green areas is for free public use. Urban green areas in Vienna are administered by the Municipal Department 42 - Parks and Gardens, by the Municipal Department 49 - Forestry Office and Urban Agriculture and Friedhöfe Wien (cemeteries). 280 imperial parks and gardens enrich the cityscape. Vienna has a total of 2,000 parks.

If you are looking for a place to take a break in the center of Vienna, you can visit one of the beautiful inner-city parks at any time. Around 400 types of rose in full bloom await you in the spring in the Volksgarten alone. Just there in winter time you can see how the municipality is protecting the rose bushes with made from old coffee bean sacks. Roses are fairly perennial flowers that can endure year-round weather conditions in most continental climate types. In winter, however, it is nice to be covered to blossom in all its luster in the spring.
