Zagreb kickstarts new anti-COVID campaign

Local authorities want to involve all citizens in the “Fighters against coronavirus” project

Holding the firm belief that everyone should be involved in containing the spread of COVID-19, Zagreb municipality has launched a new project titled “Fighters against coronavirus”. The new public health campaign has been designed by local authorities alongside the Institute of Public Health with the goal of raising awareness for prevention and safety during the pandemic.

All are fighters in the war against COVID

“Fighters against coronavirus” was presented at the grounds of the Institute of Public Health “Dr. Andrija Stampar” and was attended by Zagreb’s Mayor Milan Bandic.

Speaking at the event Bandic highlighted the main points of the campaign, stating that “I welcome this important campaign of the Institute of Public Health "Dr. Andrija Štampar” which is of great importance for the well-being of all of us. The contribution of all employees of this Institute in the fight against coronavirus is immeasurable, but a crucial role must be given by our fellow citizens, so I once again call on them to adhere to measures: wearing masks, washing hands and keeping distance.”

As part of the project, the campaign has created a number of promotional materials that will be spread out around the city – in hospitals, health centres, educational institutions, student centres, offices, local public transport trains and buses and others. According to the mayor, the dissemination of such materials will continue in the future and the municipality will print more leaflets to be handed to restaurants and other catering establishments.

State Secretary in the Ministry of Health and the envoy of the Minister of Health Silvio Bašićalso also hailed the efforts of the Institute’s staff in combating the pandemic in Zagreb. He thanked essential workers, stating that “The number of tests they conducted shows how much they work and therefore it is not surprising that this commendable campaign started from the Institute.”
