A finales de marzo, funcionarios de Zaragoza dieron a conocer la primera zona urbana de Europa dedicada a experimentar con drones y otras aeronaves no tripuladas como muestra del creciente interés por este tipo de movilidad en los contextos urbanos del continente.
Hera Drone Hub, el espacio que se ha destinado a esta iniciativa, está ubicado en el Parking Sur de la Expo, junto a la estación del AVE. También está dentro del espacio CTR, el área de seguridad del aeropuerto.
El espacio aéreo se utilizará para pruebas, experimentación y entrenamiento en la operación de aeronaves no tripuladas. Esto ha sido motivado por la supuesta integración inminente de este tipo de aviones en el espacio aéreo urbano y la futura transformación del cielo único europeo.
“Zaragoza quiere ser la ciudad de referencia europea de la movilidad avanzada. La movilidad del futuro será conectada y autónoma, terrestre y aérea, y por eso llevamos trabajando desde el Área de Servicios Públicos del Ayuntamiento para que Zaragoza sea una referencia en este sector. Apostamos fuertemente por el futuro y el futuro ya está aquí, en forma de movilidad aérea urbana”, ha declarado en la ocasión el alcalde de Zaragoza, Jorge Azcón.
Los operadores y fabricantes de dichos aviones pueden solicitar el uso del espacio para pruebas y vuelos de demostración en el sitio web de Hera Drone Hub. Estará disponible todos los días excepto miércoles y domingos.
También se realizaron cuatro vuelos de demostración en el evento. Estos fueron el trabajo de cuatro operadores: tres locales y uno chino. Uno de los participantes locales fue la Policía Local, que realizó una simulación con un dron Mavic Enterprise Dual que estaba equipado con una cámara térmica, un altavoz y una lámpara LED, necesarios para la realización de la vigilancia de seguridad. Dos de los operadores están desarrollando aviones para el sector logístico.
